Summary

The Human Resources Assistant will perform day-to-day HR activities to support departmental and organizational needs, including full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, payroll, maintaining databases, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources; or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues
  • Experience with conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations; ability to negotiate with others including persuasion where appropriate
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with all employees and management
  • Knowledge and understanding of current HR laws and regulations, trends, and updates as it relates to FSW industry and employees; includes knowledge of relevant health & safety laws
  • Active listening skills and understanding of others’ input/ideas
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Competency in ADP payroll application
  • Time management skills, especially as it relates to handling multiple people’s schedules
  • Excellent organization skills, ability to formulate concrete action steps for a project
  • Flexibility to travel to other FSW facilities within Wisconsin as needed

Responsibilities

  • Carry out full-cycle recruiting and onboarding
  • Develop, review and update job descriptions
  • Create and post job openings, conduct phone screens, schedule and participate in interviews, extend offers, coordinate day one and prepare employment documents
  • Lead the HR portion of new-hire orientation, train new hires on company policies and procedures
  • Ensure the usability of their workspace with proper equipment, introduce to supporting staff/team and acclimate them to their work location facility
  • Conduct new-hire check-ins and notify management of suggestions and/or concerns
  • Carry out full-cycle payroll; work within ADP / payroll portal to enter new-hires, review and edit timecards, update wages, track PTO, change employee information, and support open enrollment and payroll
  • Prepare, maintain, and communicate information about relevant policies, safety procedures, and benefits to staff and provides professional and efficient service to all employees
  • Support total rewards functions for new-hires, qualifying events and open enrollment; enter and term plan participants in benefits portals and ADP when applicable
  • Maintain various databases and systems pertaining to: Training logs, in compliance with safety and ISO standards, OSHA hours and 300 logs/postings, Employee information, recruitment, rewards, retention, recognition
  • Coordinate and engage in celebrations for birthdays, anniversaries, recognition, and events
  • Employee review schedule; sends and collects documents to ensure timely reviews
  • Support compliance and documentation of all legal policies and other legal requirements
  • Assist management with accidents/complaints to resolution and prepares/submits first report of injury paperwork to the insurance company
  • Ensures employee records are accurate, organized, and up to date as well as filed and maintained in accordance with legal requirements, company policies and procedures
