Summary

The job is for an Outside Counsel Management role within Block's Legal team. The position involves managing the AFA program, rate negotiations, billing process, and developing guidelines. Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in the areas of outside counsel management or legal operations in-house or at a law firm
  • Demonstrated consultative and customer service skills with the ability to develop relationships with individuals at all levels
  • A persistent drive to efficiently solve problems for internal and external clients
  • Attention to detail with the ability to plan and handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proven track record of breaking down processes and identifying key pain points in order to deliver business improvements
  • Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional groups to set objectives and produce results
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with GSuite, Simple Legal, and Persuit

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of Blockโ€™s Outside Counsel preferred provider panel
  • Assist with the development and implementation of our AFA program
  • Assist with rate and AFA negotiations
  • Monitor firm compliance within Blockโ€™s e-biling system, Simple Legal
  • Administer Blockโ€™s legal billing platform, Simple Legal, and manage the day to day legal billing process
  • Prioritize and promptly address day-to-day issues and inquiries as they arise
  • Research and act on findings related to the payment processes
  • Partner with International AP partners to research and correct errors
  • Communicate with outside counsel in a collaborative style to manage non-compliance with Billing Guidelines
  • Provide feedback on issues faced throughout the year to support updates of subsequent Billing Guidelines
  • Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of the Legal teamโ€™s knowledge management function

Preferred Qualifications

B.A. or B.S. degree preferred
