Join Key Capture Energy as a Market Operations Intern and contribute to the analysis of power market conditions impacting battery energy storage systems. This temporary, remote position involves using quantitative reasoning, data science, and programming skills to assist the market operations team. Responsibilities include conducting regression analyses, developing predictive models, implementing machine learning, and building reports. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, can independently develop data-backed answers, and effectively communicates findings. The internship requires proficiency in Python and SQL and experience with data science and machine learning methods. A legal degree or paralegal status is also required.

Requirements

• Must currently possess or be willing to obtain notary license
• Pursuing legal degree or a current paralegal
• 0-2 years of energy industry or analytical experience
• Pursuing degree in mathematics, computer science, economics, or related field
• Proficient in Python and SQL
• Experience implementing data science and machine learning methods

Responsibilities

• Build a fundamental understanding of daily energy market operations in ERCOT
• Use statistical methods to quantify the impact of market conditions on power prices
• Conduct a literature review to inform design of new algorithms and models
• Implement and expand data science pipelines to ingest and process large datasets in Python
• Develop and evaluate machine learning models to identify similar historical days based on forecasted market conditions
• Build visualizations and deliver reports to summarize findings
• Other analytical tasks in support of the Market Operations department, such as ad hoc analysis
• All other duties as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to supervised metric learning is a plus
• Experience working with large data sets is a plus
• Familiarity with energy market fundamentals is a plus
• Interest in clean energy and power markets
• Motivated self-starter
• Strong organizational communication and time-management skills
