Requirements
- This position is intended for post secondary students. Part time hours during the school year and full time hours during the summer
- A secondary school diploma
- A minimum of one year’s experience in an office environment
- A minimum of one year’s experience in the insurance industry or a related field
- Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Superior time management, project management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications and experience with broker management systems
Responsibilities
- Process daily correspondences, which include reviewing, sorting, completing and routing incoming department correspondence
- Initiate communications, as required
- Review and respond accordingly to customer and third party requests
- Contact members and third parties for additional information
- Assist with walk-in clientele and returning messages
- Initiate communications and follow up requirements to members and appropriate parties to request or verify information as required
- Follow established department procedures
- Review all new business applications to ensure they are completed properly
- Enter policy information and follow-up notes for outstanding documentation as required
- Audit and update policy information on the broker management system to ensure accuracy of data and policies
- Complete administrative requests, which includes assembling information and documents, sending documents to members, preparing member or prospect letters, and/or making changes to policies
- Act as a liaison between members and Brokers
- Establish contact and develop relationships with education affiliate prospects and members
- Answer incoming telephone calls using the Automatic Call Distributor (ACD)
- Pre-qualify risks, obtain necessary information to finalize sales, follow up on expiry dates, screen and follow up on leads generated from marketing campaigns
- Process and distribute online quotes as the primary Lead Coordinator
- Respond to telephone inquiries and written requests from both internal and external stakeholders
- Answer general account inquiries, processing billing changes directly on the carrier’s online system, and assessing risk according to binding requirements and client payment history
- Process policy cancellations and reinstatements as requested by members and underwriters
- Provide quality service while adhering to customer service standards and keep information confidential to protect operations
Preferred Qualifications
The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset
