Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of public-sector experience, and CPA with prior national public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred)
- Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), including implementing internal controls processes and documentation
- Experience in accounting, financial reporting, or other relevant experience with progressively increasing responsibilities
- Strong understanding of US GAAP as well as strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, mentor, and guide a team effectively
- Ability to travel 10-20% for company onboarding, team meetings and other business needs
- Strong critical thinking, analytical skills and problem-solving skills in closing process gaps and resolving issues, building analytics and analyses of financial results
- Proficient with MS Excel and advanced functionality
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely, complete, and accurate reporting in accordance with US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and other regulatory requirements
- Manage and develop a high-performing accounting team through effective leadership, coaching, and mentoring
- Provide guidance and support to direct reports; Senior GL Accountants, AP Analyst, and Company Card Administrator by establishing clear performance expectations, providing regular feedback, and creating opportunities for professional growth
- Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance and the monthly closing of our accounts
- Prepare and review account reconciliations as well as variance explanations
- Interface with internal business partners regarding new business initiatives, including assessing the accounting treatment, reporting/regulatory disclosures, internal control implications and systems impacts
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making
- Assist in the implementation of appropriate internal controls and process improvements
- Interact directly with the independent auditors to discuss and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner and facilitate the completion of our reviews and audits
- Oversee the accounts payable and Corporate Card programs
