Requirements
- Demonstrated experience building, leading, and motivating a product marketing team. You are effective at harnessing the time and energy of skilled people across marketing functions and the company at large to drive product success
- A hard-won playbook for driving demand, accelerating sales cycles, and increasing revenue through differentiated messaging, commercial enablement, and marketing programs for engineering and/or DevOps teams. Experience moving into the enterprise and expanding into new channels is a plus
- Strong storytelling capabilities to ensure Honeycomb rises above the noise in a crowded and technical market. You are able to create an emotional connection with our target audience, who are notoriously allergic to marketing, and inspire them to champion Honeycomb throughout their own organization
- Comfortable guiding and collaborating on a full range of PMM activities, including product launches, sales and CS enablement, competitive intelligence, roadmap development, pricing and packaging strategy, and analyst engagements
- A data-driven mindset to take the wealth of data coming from product telemetry and marketing systems to inform our go-to-market strategy
- An open and direct communication style. We consider clear and thoughtful communication (including a willingness to give and receive feedback) as a fundamental leadership skill and one of the strongest predictors of business impact
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for product marketing, hire and support great talent, plus collaborate cross-functionally with other leaders, departments, and executives
- Grow the PMM team by creating clear expectations and accountability practices, opportunities for growth, and a culture of proactive thinking
- Build strong partnerships across the organization, especially with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and our internal thought leaders
- Define and champion best practices that make our PMM team, our marketing department, and our whole org efficient and effective
- Establish systems that help mature and scale our PMM practice, defining what Honeycomb needs from PMM both now and in future
- Collaboratively build plans for each of our product offerings to maximize awareness, adoption, and expansion
- Serve as a strategic partner in prioritizing business needs and team capacity, defining KPIs to track and measure success
- Create messaging and tell stories that differentiate us with our core audience
- Ensure we continue to be innovators in our space, building upon our bold thought leadership and category creation DNA
- Establish effective feedback loops and processes between PMM and the rest of the company
- Act as a coach and mentor to the PMM team
- Be a leader within the marketing department, ensuring we consistently raise our bar and achieve our goals
- Approach hard challenges with curiosity and rigorous experimentation
- Develop a deep understanding of our business, both technically and commercially
- Take a โHoneycomb firstโ perspective by making decisions and prioritizing resources in the best interest of the company
